Rubus for Mac
=============

Clean business charts for PowerPoint and Excel. Rubus runs inside Office: nothing to install, and
it updates itself.

What you need
-------------

- PowerPoint 16.64 or later, and/or Excel 16.24 or later (PowerPoint → About PowerPoint
  shows the version).
- Open PowerPoint (and Excel, if you want Rubus there) once before adding Rubus, then quit it.
- Internet: Rubus opens from https://app.rubuschart.com each time.

Add Rubus: the quickest way
---------------------------

This way the Mac asks no questions, and you do not need this zip at all.

1. Quit PowerPoint and Excel (Cmd+Q).
2. Open Terminal: press Cmd+Space, type Terminal, press Return.
3. Copy this line, paste it into Terminal (Cmd+V), and press Return:

   curl -fsSL https://app.rubuschart.com/add-mac.sh | bash

4. It says "Added to PowerPoint." Close Terminal and open PowerPoint. Rubus is on the Home
   tab.

Add Rubus: with the file in this folder
---------------------------------------

1. Quit PowerPoint and Excel (Cmd+Q).
2. Double-click Add Rubus.command.
3. The Mac will probably say "Apple could not verify 'Add Rubus.command' is free of
malware". That is expected: Rubus is not sold through Apple, so Apple has not checked it.
Click Done (not Move to Trash), then:
   - macOS 15 Sequoia and later: open the Apple menu → System Settings → Privacy & Security, scroll
to the bottom, click Open Anyway next to "Add Rubus.command", click Open Anyway again
     and enter your password.
   - macOS 14 Sonoma and earlier: right-click Add Rubus.command, choose Open, then
     Open.
4. A Terminal window says "Added to PowerPoint." Close it and open PowerPoint. Rubus is on the
   Home tab.

Another way past the warning: open Terminal, type bash and a space, drag Add Rubus.command
from this folder into the Terminal window, and press Return.

If Rubus is not there
---------------------

- Quit PowerPoint with Cmd+Q (closing the window is not enough) and open it again.
- Look on the Home tab, then under Home → Add-ins or Insert → Add-ins → My Add-ins.
- "PowerPoint not found" when adding: open PowerPoint once, quit it, and add Rubus again.

Make your first chart
---------------------

Pick a chart, paste your numbers from Excel (Cmd+V), and press Insert chart. Select the chart
on the slide at any time to change it.

Remove Rubus
------------

Double-click Remove Rubus.command (the same warning may appear; the steps above get past it),
or paste this into Terminal:

curl -fsSL https://app.rubuschart.com/remove-mac.sh | bash

Charts you have already made stay in your files.
